“The news today that economic output rose by 0.8% over the summer will bring a smile to the faces of many in business in Bradford and across the country.  The step forward follows similar progress made in the spring to demonstrate that the recent improvements in business confidence are not without foundation.  There’s still a long way to go before we’re out of the woods and not all of our members are telling us that things are back to normal, whatever normal is these days, but today’s figures from the ONS are nevertheless very welcome.

“Earlier this week former Bank of England MPC member Kate Barker told Chamber members that the recovery is likely to be short, with further hurdles in a couple of years’ time.  That is certainly not good news and so we still need all decision-makers who are in a position to help businesses to be mindful the continuing caution that’s out there, and of the warnings from economic experts of more problems storing up in the future.”
