Review of planning process – what are your top 5 issues?
Forum members are reminded they have the chance to influence the outcome of the on-going planning review the BPF is involved with.
The Forum will be feeding views into the planning review being conducted by Bradford Council. Members can be a simple but effective contribution by telling us what are the top five issues affecting your company that need changing.
We only need a short statement or couple of sentences on each issue/change that could be made and these can be provided electronically to Mike Cartwright here
Thanks to those members already commenting on this. Please provide any comments by Wednesday 7 November.
Problems identified by a Forum group looking into this include:
- 1. Getting councillors engaged in the issues and informed at an early stage
- 2. Establishing clear protocols for dealing with applications, avoiding ambiguity at any stage
- 3. Shortage of resources and addressing the matter
- 4. Dealing with Section 106 (and 278) agreements and the information needed to understand better
- 5. The importance of training councillors as well as officers
- 6. The basic understanding of development appraisals, and the need for subsequent 106 agreements to be made on this basis
- 7. Some developers need to improve the quality of their submissions.
