Conversion for Glenroyal?
Plans to turn a former cinema in Shipley into a £7m apartment complex are being drawn up by a Saltaire company.
The Glenroyal on Briggate is the target of a project by Beckwith Design Associates and could be converted into 78 flats, with shops or leisure facilities on the ground floor. A plan has been submitted to Bradford Council, which will consider the details in weeks to come. Beckwith’s Tony Lupton hopes that building work will commence early in the new year.
“The Glenroyal building is a re-use of a brownfield site that will provide quality accommodation and will also provide employment because of the commercial aspect,” said Mr Lupton.
Shipley councillor Martin Love has, though, warned against the number of conversions in the area, saying the number of apartments available for young professional has reached “saturation point”.
