No hurray for HIPS

The Office of Fair Trading has advised estate agents in England and Wales that failure to comply with the new Home Information Packs (HIPs) regulations could bar them from estate agency work.

From September, 3-bedroomed homes were included in the instructions for HIPs being needed before a sale can commence.

Property title, energy performance, planning permissions and searches make up the HIP. The OFT can impose a ban and issue a Warning Order, then a Prohibition Order if an estate agent continues to break rules.
