Building schemes move forward
A major new building project for Bradford is about to get under way.
The much-mooted Listerhills student village has taken another step forward as more land has been acquired to feed the £90 million project. Around 80% of the land needed to meet the mixed-use development near the university has new been obtained by Forum member Mi7. The plan is now for work to commence on the first phase within the next few months.
Mi7's Mohammed Ishtiaq, who is also on the Steering Group of Bradford Property Forum, is looking forward to it. His company is based in Manchester.
"We came into Bradford four years ago with a major plan for a sustainable student village in conjunction with the university and the college. It's taken a long time, but we are looking to start the first phase in the next few months. The second phase will involve developing residential accomodation for overseas students at the university. The third phase is a 1,000-bedroom sustainable student village."
There is also set to be a business incubation unit within the Listerhills project.
