Businesses urged to back City of Film (posted 1 March '10)

Bradford, England is the world's first City of Film.

The status has been awarded the unique designation of UNESCO City of Film and the city will be making a song-and-dance of it on 18 March.

The formal launch and subsequent activities will reveal new opportunities to businesses and the people of Bradford, and everyone is being asked to join in in some way.

The award does not mean the automatic setting up of a new multi-million pound organisation and the City of Film concept grow and flourish gradually as various initiatives unfold.  Businesses are being asked to take part in the launch and support the scheme long-term

Andrew Mason, the chair of Bradford Property Forum, said:  "By being vocal and proactive about the City of Film, businesses can help bring about change.  Companies operating in Bradford, both within and beyond the property sector, should get behind the concept and look at the help guide to see what they can do."

Bradford Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the City of Film Director Peg Alexander, has made available a guide for what steps organisations can take to support City of Film.

So, ask not what City of Film can do for you, but what you can do for City of Film!
